Later I loved the TV show even more, and I think that it makes for an even better adaptation of the book, not the facts, but the spirit. Its a great read for fans or not fans of football.. It begins like a book focused upon the role high school football plays within American society, in particular rural society, but the book turns out to become a deep and critical analysis on American society, mostly on desegregation and racial issues.
